yes, the gathering is gone, and in its place is something. it is still kind of funky, though, having a big church that is marketing itself to a certain age group. what the gathering was trying to work on was to say, "if you came before God and had to give him something, what would it look like?" as well as making sure it looked like us and not wearing clothes that we would never ever wear. so yes, there was a "look" but it was as close to pure "us" as we could muster each week. now, to have a church "go after" a certain crowd, that just seems wrong and unhealthy. next time you are at casas as and someone says "and all God's people said.." say "wait, are you including me in this?" it'll be a lot of fun. hopefully you'll fit the model or the genre. christianity is now a brand.
someday there will be a true multigenerational church, one that all of us can look at and say, "yes, that is what i am giving to God - it is all about you, God" and our gifts and personalities will be welcomed. maybe they'll start carding people at casas. crazier things have happened. enjoy digging around the site.

HEY! didja come from the casaschurch.org site? what is up with this link? we can't figure it out for the life of us. we've been waiting for more than a year, and we've begun to fear for both frank and the adults there.

here is a great blog on the topic of the contemplative life
read one of the stories from the gat
for those of us that rarely find ourselves in a Christian bookstore, what do we read to enrich our thoughts and hearts? something that might be of interest is beyond magazine - hard to describe but check out some of their past clippings as well as follow along on their blog. check it out, and subscribe if you'd like - the next issue should be coming out after a long break, and 100% ad free. if you subscribe, just let them know the gat sent you - they sit on the edges in the gat.community.

yes, the gat is slowing down a bit and will meet monthly. why? plenty of reasons, stemming from the ease of building a community like you build at a movie theater [it really only works well if you know people as you go in ], changing in the overall direction [yes, it is still a really good direction], the needs of the poppa church, and then there is the time spent by volunteers.
what will the monthly gat look like? hopefully better, more of an event, a tailgate party for God. a lot more can be created in 4 weeks instead of every week. good things, all around. in the end, we hope God leans back and says "thank you, you give me great honor. thank you." there's nothing like pointing back to God and letting him know he is the one for us, the one for us that we joyfully put ourselves aside and give all that we are back to him.
see you soon...
